My family is the foundation from which I grew, my friends are the ingredient of my life and which keeps me sane and having a zest for life each day. My hobbies; art, music, refinishing furniture and compassion for animals epitomize who I am.

Wendy Sturgeon's Academic Side
It's never too late to earn your degree. When I graduated high school I wanted more than anything to work for an advertising agency. I never realized until I attended art school, and worked for an advertising agency, that my love of art and how I composed it should be left private and rather my talent was more on how advertising and when advertising should be delivered. There were no computers then, (am I dating myself?,) so everything was hand drawn. There was no Internet to poll peoples prefrences as to how and why they responded to advertising and marketing messages, and most businesses had no clue.
My expertise was more in the area of advertising and marketing strategy, than drawing. My career changed at this point and I decided to continue on through school to receive my degree in Business Administration and Marketing. So, here I am, many years later, twists and turns in my life, I am finally graduating!
Although no one can ever say anything negative about all of my work experience, you still need that piece of paper if you want to become something and earn a nice wage when you grow up. No excuses, you can do it if I did. It has taken me a while, yes no doubt. I wanted to quit a few times. It is very tough road and more and more I began to look more like the teacher than the student. There are no short cuts.
But, there is a bright side. I have far more to offer to future employers then someone else my own age with a more outdated degree and current work experience where I can offer more to my place of work from my current education. Technologically speaking, no one that I regularly interface within my age group can blog. As the Director of Marketing and Public Relations for a non-profit agency, not only do we join millions of companies who want to become more green, but we also face economic times where electronic communication is more than just affordable, it's critical.
By December 10th 2008 I will have reached my goal. I will have a job that I love representing an organization in the capacity as Director of Marketing and Public Relations and represent people with special needs. But will have the degree that goes along with it.
Now it's your turn!
